4. Assurance of God’s Presence Psalm 56:9-11

Text:  “When I cry unto Thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I KNOW; for God is for me.  In God will I praise His Word: in the Lord will I praise His Word.  In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”

Psalm 56:10-11.

“And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”

2 Chronicles 20:22.

Good morning, reassured Christian!   Your tears, because of the unbelief and gross error being propagated and preached from professing Christian church pulpits across the nations, have caused you much grief, much frustration; at the fact that many professing Christ just will not, or perhaps cannot, believe in the Sovereignty of a truly gracious and Holy Lord God.

However, the Lord has not left thee and me without His comfort and full assurance – His Word is truth!  Hallelujah!  We are called to preach/teach God’s truth!  The result of our Bible preaching/teaching is completely in the omnipotent hands of our Sovereign Lord God.  All praise and glory to His merciful and gracious Name!  Thank you, Lord God!

“In God will I praise His Word: in the Lord will I praise His Word.  In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.” (Psalm 56:10)

Bible-believing, Spiritually regenerate, Christianity is what is under profound Satanic attack today in the year 2022.

It is a time today, when many want to go to Heaven on their own terms; want to meet together on Sundays in large groups, to worship – in their own way – a false god of this progressive age!

Among such, often very large groups of people, there is no place for Bible-belief; no room for, or understanding of, Bible doctrine; and certainly no room at the inn of their hearts for living lives of Biblical obedience, holiness and self-denial.

The Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to Timothy has, in the full inspiration of the Lord God Jehovah, clearly prophesied the characteristics of this time of unbiblical ‘belief’; this time of open and popular apostasy; this time of going through the motions of Christianity, while wallowing in humanistic unbelief and disobedience to God’s Word.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves (selfish), covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection (homosexual), trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (no self-control), fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God: having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”          (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

It never ceases to amaze me, how many of these professing Christians, can tell me all about the best workings of mobile phones; how to access the internet services; and the latest ‘praise and worship’ band – yet know almost NOTHING about the Bible, sound Christian doctrine; and Biblical standards of how they should be living their lives under a Holy Lord God of absolute wrath against all sin!  Seems like easy-believism 101 for dummies!

Is it any wonder that sincere, born again, genuine Christian believers cry out in despair to God – having so many anti-Christians and charlatans exercising clerical power WITHIN the realms of what was first established as Christian places of Christian worship?  Lord God, please hear our cries?

“When I cry unto Thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know for God is for me.”  (Psalm 56:9)

“Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified (just as if I’d never sinned!): and whom He justified, them He also glorified (yet future event).  What shall we then say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us?”  (Romans 8:30-31)

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons/daughters of God.”   (Romans 8:14)

How do we know the false professor from the genuine Christian believer?  Easy!  The genuine Christian is led by the Spirit of God.  How does God the Spirit lead the genuine Christian believer?  Easy!  The Spirit of God is the Divine Author of Bible Scripture, and has led the genuine Christian believer to the Word of God to receive necessary faith to believe, receive, and to follow the risen Christ Jesus.  Without such God-given faith in Christ, there can be no genuine Salvation; and no authentic profession of the Christ of God.  Take God’s written Word out of any professing Christian church – and you will find such a church building packed to the doors with counterfeit ‘Christians’; being led by blind guides into a Christ-rejecter’s Hell.  Tragic, tragically sad – but true nonetheless.

True saving FAITH is the gift of God, and God only gives His gift of faith to ‘His people’.  God’s genuine people, have the Bible, God’s Word at the centre of all things.

From personal and present experience: it is a dangerous thing to try to preach/teach the undiluted Word of God from a King James Version Bible in this age of open apostasy.  One suddenly becomes the ‘bad guy’, the ‘trouble-maker’; the ‘rock the boat radical’ – when one dares to take a stand and proclaim the profound simplicity of Bible truth.  Fact.

Verse 11.  “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. The Lord Jesus prophesied such days of open apostasy in Matthew’s Gospel, Chapter 24.

“All these are the beginning of sorrows.  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My sake.  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  But he/she that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”  (Matthew 24:8-13)

With all this doom and gloom, what should genuine Christian believers do amidst such happenings?  Psalm 56:10-13 reveals the Biblical answer to such events of despair.

Verse 12. “Thy vows are upon me, O God.  Because God’s vows are upon us, we know we can trust our Sovereign Lord God to fulfil His Word and His promises to us, ‘His people’.  Therefore, we sing praises in the midst of all oppositions and counterfeit ‘churchianity’ – knowing that the Lord God Whom we know and love and serve is in  full control.

Thought: The high praise of God, is a two-edged sword in the Bible-believing mouths of ‘His people’.  Let me hear it, brethren? Hallelujah! Our God reigns! (Psalm 149:6-9)
