3. Dedication For Eternal Security Psalm 30:3

Text:  “O Lord, Thou hast brought up my soul from the grave; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down into the pit (Hell).”
                                                                                                                     Psalm 30:3.

Good morning, delivered and secured Christian!  Praise God, by His Sovereign grace alone, you and I have been dedicated in Eternity; set apart for Salvation and Eternal security by God.  Almighty Lord God has ordained us, or ‘elected’ us for His Salvation, before the foundations of the world.  It was then that He ‘gave’ us to His dear Son, Christ Jesus, and marked us out to be saved in time, according to the Scriptures.  We were, thus, ‘dedicated’ to be delivered and to receive God’s Eternal security.  Wow!  What a gracious and powerful, and Almighty Lord God we serve!  Hallelujah!

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification (set apart, dedicated) of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus Christ: Grace (unmerited favour from God) unto you, and peace be multiplied.”             (1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus said: “All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him/her that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.”  (John 6:37)

Why will Christ Jesus not ‘cast out’ those that come unto Him?  Because He came to do the Father’s will in all things, and the Father has elected (chosen) and given to Him those whom the Father has dedicated, set apart in Eternity, to be redeemed by Christ’s sinless Blood.  Wow!

See how God’s Salvation plan unfolds so succinctly?  Glory to the Lamb Who is worthy!  Glory to the Father for His grace!  Glory to the Spirit for His quickening power, His making alive the souls of us who were ‘…dead in trespasses and sin…’!  Hallelujah!   “Salvation is of the Lord!”  (Ephesians 2:1;5) (Jonah 2:9)

True Christians are elected in Eternity, delivered in time; and kept secure forever - and all by the Sovereign grace of Almighty Lord God, Jehovah.

“I give unto them Eternal life (not temporal life!); and they shall never perish (Spiritually), neither shall any man (including ourselves!) pluck them out of My hand.  My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand.  I and My Father are One.”  (John 10:27-30)

Verse 3.  “O Lord, Thou hast brought up my soul from the grave.  Mark, it is not, ’I hope so’; but it is, ’Thou hast; Thou hast; Thou hast’ - three times over.  David is quite sure, beyond a doubt, that God has done great things for him, whereof he is exceeding glad.”  (C.H. Spurgeon, Treasury of David, page 144)

Verse 3.  “…Thou hast kept me alive.”  The Lord God, in His Sovereign grace and mercy to Hell-deserving sinners, saved me, a convicted terrorist murderer, in a prison cell at the infamous high security Maze Prison here in Northern Ireland, UK, on August 12th, 1979.  That is a full 36 years ago.  Since that day of His Salvation - both inside the prison and here in the outside world - I have survived terrorist murder bids and endured numerous terrorist ’death threats’, and am still alive and serving my Lord God Who saved me.  Surely this is testimony enough of the truth of God’s revealed Word?  For not only did the Lord God save me back in 1979, but He has kept me alive, physically and literally, ever since He did!  Give God the glory!  Raise up a shout of praise to Him! Hallelujah!  Thank you, Lord God!  (See the book by Brent Riggs, ‘Terrorist to Evangelist’, Amazon.co.uk)

“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake…We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.  For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus‘ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.”      (2 Corinthians 4:5-11)

Verse 3.  “…Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.  Not only has the Lord God kept me alive, physically, through many perilous years, He has and will keep me alive Spiritually, ’…that I should not go down to the pit.’!  The pit of Hell is for unbelieving sinners, believing sinners shall never go there.  We have God’s own Word on this Eternal matter:

Psalm 9:17. “The wicked shall be turned into Hell.  I have read of a loadstone in Ethiopia which has two corners, with one it draws the iron to it, with the other it puts the iron from it; so God hath two hands, of mercy and justice; with the one He will draw the godly to Heaven, with the other He will thrust the sinner to Hell; and oh, how dreadful is that place!  (Thomas Watson 1690?)

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”  (Revelation 20:12-15)

“O Lord, Thou hast brought up my soul from the grave; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down into the pit (Hell).”  (Psalm 30:3)

Thought:  Elected, sealed, and Eternally delivered - we are ’His people’; we are Eternally secure in Christ Jesus.  Let us live accordingly to His greater glory?
